About Me
About Me
Hi, I’m Jeremy.
A while back, my heart stopped and I died for a bit. It was as strange and disruptive as it sounds, and it forced me to stare pretty hard at how I was spending the days I have left. Since then, most of my choices have revolved around a simple question: Does this actually matter, or am I just burning time?
These days I split my time between two connected projects:
- Athencia, a cloud-first IT services firm for professional services firms that want grown-up systems without enterprise nonsense.
- MSP Ascent, a framework and fractional Service Delivery Management for emerging MSPs who want to think and operate like real businesses, not just “a guy with tickets and alerts.”
I’ve been in and around the managed services world for close to fifteen years, doing a little bit of everything: hands-on engineering, leadership, building practices from scratch, and trying to turn chaos into systems that normal humans can actually live with. I care less about shiny tools and more about whether something reduces risk, creates leverage, or gives people back a few precious hours of their week.
I’m also unreasonably interested in agency, the sense that your life and work are shaped by your choices instead of by whatever is currently on fire. After a trip to Kauai with Holly and close friends, I came home with a short list of dragons I’m still intent on slaying: health, money, time, and the small fears that stack up into bigger ones if you leave them alone long enough.
On the nerd side of the spectrum, I’m a heavy user of generative AI, especially ChatGPT. I treat it like a thinking partner, a debugging assistant, and occasionally a very patient rubber duck. A lot of what I write here is me working out how small businesses and MSPs can use technology, automation, and systems thinking to get compounding results without losing their soul in the process.
I live in the Seattle area with my wife, Holly, our two dogs, and a rotating cast of three grown children who still show up to raid the fridge. When I’m not building or writing, I’m usually cooking, reading, or quietly optimizing some corner of my life that no one else will ever notice.
This site is where I think out loud about all of that, the work, the near-death experiences, the dragons, and the question that keeps replaying in the background: How do you build a life and a business that are actually worth protecting?
