1.) Launch an elevated command prompt. (Right Click on Command Prompt –> Run as Administrator)
2.) Execute the command wbadmin start systemstatebackup -backuptarget:D: while substituting D: for another drive letter if needed.
To my knowledge you can’t backup to a folder unfortunately.

“The new Recycle Bin functionality in Server 2008 R2 is really cool – you can actually undelete objects, and all their attributes are restored as if the object never went away – no requirement to rejoin the domain for computer objects, for example.”

I was trying to activate a Windows 2008 install with a valid key but kept getting presented with error 0x8007232B. Looking this up on Google, I discovered that this also happens with Vista Enterprise and the root cause is that it is trying to hit a Key Management Server (KMS). I don’t have a KMS in my lab and was dismayed at the prospect of needing to build yet another machine to install one.
Luckily I found a super simple solution to this problem. :)
Start -> Control Panel -> System -> Change Windows Product Key. Then enter the exact same product key you used to install and the product activates without issue. I have only tried this once so your mileage may vary but I’d be interested to hear from you if it doesn’t work as described.
