I could not say it better myself…
“A man must fill his life with meaning, meaning is not automatically given to life. It is hard work to fill one’s life with meaning.” Chaim Potok

I occasionally change to new quotes in the header. I’ve decided to put the old quotes into a post when I change to a new one, as they all mean something to me and I don’t keep track of them anywhere else.
“Be not afraid of greatness; some are born great, some achieve greatness, and others have greatness thrust upon them.” – Shakespeare, Twelfth Night – Act Two, Scene Five
I think General Patton and I would have gotten along just fine. His leadership style seems similar to mine.
“Don’t tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and let them surprise you with their results.”
“A leader is a man who can adapt principles to circumstances.”
“If you can’t get them to salute when they should salute and wear the clothes you tell them to wear, how are you going to get them to die for their country?”
“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”

I would be curious to find which one you consider the most important…
1. Find meaning and inspiration in your work.
2. Work hard.
3. Discover the relationship between effort and reward.
4. Seek out complex work to avoid boredom and repetition.
5. Be autonomous and control your own destiny as much as possible.
- A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. ~Herm Albright
I most definitely agree with this. :D
Happiness is not an accident. Nor is it something you wish for. Happiness is something you design. ~Jim Rohn
Good quote…
In work as in life, we must contemplate the loss of everything in order to know what we have to give; it is the essence of writing, the essence of working, the essence of living; an essence that we look for by hazarding our best gifts in the world, and in that perspective, all of us are young and have the possibilities of the young until our last breath goes out. ~ David Whyte, Crossing an Unknown Sea, p. 245
