Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 vs Windows SharePoint Services 3.0

Recently I got involved in a discussion that led me to question what the differences are between Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS 2007) and Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 (WSS 3.0).

So, I e-mailed friend@microsoft.com to get the low down. He replied pretty quickly with the following info;

MOSS 2007 is WSS 3.0 with a ton of additional enterprise-level functionality enabled (support for server farms, separate indexing servers, greater scalability, BI, content management, policies/auditing/compliance, etc). The following may help:

The definitive feature comparison is here:

Many thanks to my anonymous friend for the info.
